Month-End TTM Roundup: 07/02-08/05

Received On: 07/05/2018

The first return to come back this period was from big leaguer Jake McGee.
Jake McGee was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth round of the 2004 MLB Player Draft. Armed with a mid-90's fastball and a curveball, McGee has managed to carve out a nice little career for himself as a reliever. McGee made his MLB debut in 2010 and has mostly been in the big leagues since. McGee was with the Rays until early 2016 when he was traded to the Colorado Rockies in the Corey Dickerson trade. Despite going to spacious Coors Field he managed to do quite well in the Rockies bullpen and even signed a three year deal with the Rockies prior to the 2018 season. One that comes with a club option for a fourth year. Not a bad career for Mr. McGee.

Next up is a return from Reds prospect Stuart Fairchild.
Stuart Fairchild was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 2017 MLB Player Draft. Fairchild projects to be a very solid hitter at the big league level. His discipline has (at least in the early goings) shown to be better than advertised, and he can make contact fairly well. The power has yet to really show up but if it does that could improve his potential even further. He has good speed that'll help him cover a ton of ground in the outfield and make him a threat on the basepaths. Good luck Stuart.

Here's a return from Yankees prospect Ryder Green.
Ryder Green was drafted by the New York Yankees in the third round of the 2018 MLB Player Draft. Seen as one of the top 100 pre-draft prospects, Green has a lot of power for a high school prospect and the hope is that he can tap into it with lots of hard work and determination. He can make contact but plate discipline will be a key thing for him to learn and improve upon in the coming years. Green was also an intriguing pitching option prior to the draft (as seen on the card which shows him pitching) thanks to his low-90's velo, but it looks like the Yankees have him be a potential right fielder of the future. He has the speed and arm for it.

Next up is a return from Phillies prospect Luis Garcia.
Luis Garcia was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-drafted international free agent back in 2017 out of the Dominican Republic. At 17 years old he's already made it stateside. Given that he's still 17 he's still really raw and has a long road ahead of him if he wants to make it to the big leagues. His glove is really advanced and apparently is something to behold. Offensively he hasn't hit for power yet (he hasn't grown muscle yet), but he's got a nice patient approach that should help him when his power (or what little of it) does eventually arrive. Buena suerte Luis.

Another return from a Phillies prospect, this time it's Adam Haseley.
Adam Haseley was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the 2017 MLB Player Draft. He was an interesting two-way player as an amateur but the Phillies see him fulfilling his potential as an outfielder. Offensively he can make good contact, he has good speed and has flashed some power here and there. His arm is good and should allow him to field any of the outfield positions but which third of the outfield he'll cover remains to be seen. After a very good first half this season, Haseley has now been promoted to double-A.
Haseley also wrote John 3:16, the most well known bible verse (probably?) on the envelope. Thanks Adam!

Here's a return from Blue Jays righty, Eric Pardinho.
Eric Pardinho was signed out of Brazil by the Toronto Blue Jays as a non-drafted international free agent back in 2017. At age 17 he's already competing in rookie ball here in states. That is extremely impressive. Armed with a lot 90's fastball that can touch 97, a curveball and a changeup, there's a lot to like about the teenage pitching phenom going forward. He's still got to fill out his frame a bit but when he does he could be a really really good middle of the rotation starter.

Received On: 07/21/2018

Next up is a return from Reds prospect, Cory Thompson.
Cory Thompson was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Player Draft. Drafted out of high school, Thompson was seen as someone who had enough talent to go either way as a hitter or a pitcher after turning pro. Thompson originally manned shortstop but by 2017 he had been converted into a pitcher. Thompson's high school velo was said to reach 94 mph, and Reds Minor League states that he had a curveball and changeup once upon a time. According to 406 MT Sports, Thompson still has that 94 mph velo and pairs it with a curveball in the bullpen. I wish Thompson nothing but success as he looks to rebuild himself.
Also, I was pretty glad to get this return back because it had been sitting my "TTM fodder" box for years before I finally got to send it out this year.

Received On: 07/29/2018

Here's top Rockies prospect Ryan Vilade.
Ryan Vilade was originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the second round of the 2017 MLB Player Draft. Vilade is a high ceiling infielder (currently a shortstop) with a steady bat and steadier power (that'll play at Coors for sure). Defensively it remains to be seen if he stays at shortstop as some see him outgrowing the position at some point, but the Rockies seem to be taking a "let him do it until he can't anymore" approach with Vilade. With Trevor Story and Brendan Rodgers in tow Vilade's got quite the logjam of talent ahead of him, but his bat should transition well at any position.

Received On: 08/02/2018

Here's an awesome return from Brewers prospect Brice Turang.
Brice Turang was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the 2018 MLB Player Draft. Turang has been on scouting radars for years now (he's had cards made since he was barely 15 years old after all), but because he never really blew scouts away at the numerous showcases he participated in his draft stock fell to where the Brewers snatched him up. Kudos to the Brewers, it's very easy to forget that Turang is still super young and extremely talented if you have amateur prospect fatigue, but the Brewers got themselves a very nice high upside, nice floor guy here. Best of luck to Brice who is very nice.

Received On: 08/02/2018

Next up is Braves prospect Drew Waters.
Drew Waters was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2017 MLB Player Draft. A high caliber outfield prospect, Waters has demolished the competition in his first full season of pro baseball. He has lots of exceptional tools, the best of which are probably his power, fielding and his arm. That canon will work in centerfield if he can show that he can stay there. Plus his power potential is a good 30+ dinger hitter, for a center fielder that's not nothing. He's also no slouch on the basepaths as he has good speed too. Just an all around good talent the Braves have that finally entered the top 100 prospect list recently on MLB Pipeline. He was recently promoted to high-A after terrorizing single-A.

Received On: 08/03/2018

Here is Yankees righty Daniel Alvarez.
Daniel Alvarez was signed out of Venezuela by the New York Mets as a non-drafted international free agent back in 2014, but somehow he ended up in the Yankees org. In the early going he showed a lot of promise as a guy who had a nice low 90's fastball who could just go ham on the strike zone. Unfortunately his results as a starter have not been ideal and here in 2018 he's been relegated to the bullpen full time. But there's still a chance the Yankees can turn that arm into something in relief.

And those were my returns this month. Big thanks to Mr. McGee, Fairchild, Green, Garcia, Haseley, Pardinho, Thompson, Vilade, Turang, Waters and Alvarez for the awesome autographs.

And as always thank you (the readers) for stopping by. Take care :).
