On the most glorious summer morning (this morning) I took the girls to a local place called The Cake Bake Shop.
Part restaurant, part bakery, part coffee shop, pure bliss.
I have wanted to visit for ages but it never worked out until this morning and somehow that just seems right. I loved experiencing it for the first time with my two best girls.
It was a perfect morning to celebrate new adventures. The first full week of summer for Emma after finishing her freshman year with a 4.0 and Maddie's first full time job! An employed college graduate is not something to take for granted in the modern world! We are so proud of our girls and how hard they work!
I've never seen a place more perfect for celebrating.
I had an epic case of sensory overload.
You are probably having similar just looking at these photos. Put on your Rat Pack play list to get the full effect.
We started with drinks. Sipping chocolate for Emma and chocolat chaud for Maddie and I.
I'm pretty sure I've never seen anything so perfect in a cup.
See the detail on the saucer? Even the inside of the cup was lovely. Nothing was missed.
We followed this with quiche lorraine and an arugula salad for each of us which was perfect and unlike any quiche I've ever had before and was entirely too much food for one sitting.
Especially when it is imperative that you leave room for a piece of cake. Or three. Lemon blueberry for me, Millionaire for Maddie and Earl's Court Chocolate Cake for Emma, the price of which would probably make you pass out. But it is award winning and this was a special occasion!
You can see there might be some difficulty choosing a dessert. We thought it would be fun to all get different things and share.
Of course it was also entirely too much cake so we happily boxed up all the extras.
A final look around before we left, some more photos and a quick trip to the restroom. Even it was beautiful. No, I didn't get a picture. That would be weird.
But if I had it would look something like this.
Then it was time to say goodbye. I'm so glad we got to spend Maddie's last Monday off with her sharing a morning I'm sure we will always remember.
