More West Country Escapades.

Eden lived up to expectations. Within one small area Spring and Autumn were sitting side by side. As predicted so much has changed since our last visit. It is hard to tell we were visiting an old quarry. The sides have been totally covered by greenery.

On our return journey we stopped off at Lydford Gorge. This turned out to be a beautiful 8 mile detour along the edge of Dartmoor. The walk along the gorge was stunning. Still a little early for the best of the Autumn colour but the waterfall was beautiful.

Max Gate in Dorchester was another National Trust visit. Only opened in the last five years it gave a fascinating insight into the life of Thomas Hardy. As we entered the sitting room a roaring fire was there to greet us and take us back in time. You almost felt that he had just left the room and would be back any minute!

While waiting for our evening ferry we ascended the Spinnaker tower in Portsmouth. It turned out it was the tenth anniversary of its opening…scary where has the last ten years gone. What were you doing ten years ago?
